I've said for years that I would love to go to New York someday. But what I really mean is I would love to go to New York in the '40s or '50s. Damn! When's someone gonna invent a time-machine...?
I know exactly what you mean, Col. it's always been one of my dreams to visit New York, but the New York I see when I close my eyes is a lovely mish-mash of water towers and irish cops eating doughnuts in diners, kids having punch-ups on street corners and the Staten Island Ferry, steam rising from the sewers and Rhapsody in Blue in the air, and women who wear gloves. that's New York. curse me for the old romantic that I am!
