Joe, I've seen the two 'Thing' films based on this many times over, and read many of the comics adapted from it, but this is the first time I've read the original thing.

You're right - it's a masterpiece.

The author reads a bit like one of my all time favourite writers, Martin Cruz Smith, i.e., every word is dedicated to the end of enthralling story telling.
